Be sure that your quote isn't based on using paper as a substitute which can lead to leaking issues and end up costing you more over time.
Another shortcut we've seen in quotes for residential roofing services is providing a quote without doing a proper inspection. If you have an older house there may be more than 1 layer of shingles on it. We have seen situations where roofing companies have been signed up to do the job and then after the job has begun have they let the customer know that their are actually 2 layers of shingles to remove and the cost is actually 25% higher than they promised.

Guarantees
Guarantees are another important consideration and there may be more to the terms of your guarantee than you might think. At Fritz and Sons we have guarantees that range from 25 years to 40 years like many roofing companies you'll see. What most other companies won't tell you is that these guarantees are prorated based on how many years you have your home. In other words, if you have a 30 year guarantee and you have problems after 15 years then you are only covered for 50% of the cost. At Fritz and Sons you can also have the option of a 20 year, 100% guarantee that is NOT prorated. If you have problems after 18 years it is covered 100%. We are able to do this with the support of our manufacturer GAFELK and this is something they can only provide through certified GAFELK contractors which of course we are (less than 6% of contractors are certified).
